Apple Cake

Add melted butter


Followed by the eggs


Lastly the yoghurt


Pour mixture into sifted dry ingredients


Add in the diced apple


Arrange sliced apples over the top


Arrange butter slices over the apples and sprinkle sugar liberally




Spongey and moist interior, with bits of apples evenly distributed, so yummy!

Rustic Apple Cake

150 g plain flour
100 g caster sugar
pinch of salt
1.5 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 eggs (60G)
100 g yoghurt
4 tbsp melted butter (57g)
grated zest of one orange
300 g apples (I used Pink Lady)
1 tbsp butter  (25g) cut into strips
1-2 tbsp muscovado sugar for sprinkling ( I used brown sugar)

Preheat oven to 160C Fan mode, 2nd level

Butter and flour a 7 inch square cake pan. I lined the sides too as I was using a normal pan.

Peel and core the apples. Dice 2/3 of the apples and slice the balance.

In a bowl, sift together the flours, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

In another bowl rub together sugar and lemon zest. Add in the melted butter and beat until sugar has dissolved then add the eggs and whisk until creamy and light. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined with some flour still visible. Add the diced apples and mix again to combine.

Pour batter to the prepared pan and even out the top. Arrange  the thin slices of apples on top of the batter.  Next arrange butter over the apples and sprinkle sugar liberally over the top.

Bake in preheated oven at 160C Fan for 45-50 minutes.

      Can or a mixture of granny smith and gala

      Memang apple akan kering tapi ada letak butter kat atas jadi masih lembut. Boleh letak lebih gula di atas kek.
